Textured beverages are no longer a niche category in Asia-Pacific. From chewy tapioca pearls to coconut jellies, consumers increasingly seek drinks that offer both refreshment and a satisfying bite. One standout example is the cranberry drink with nata de coco from RITA, sold under the Bici Bici brand in a 325ml wide opening can.

The Rise of Texture-Forward Beverages in Asia and Beyond
The beverage aisles across Asia are witnessing a paradigm shift. Products with suspended particles, gelatinous cubes, and fruit bits are commanding premium shelf space. This is not merely a fad; it reflects a broader culinary tradition in the region, where taro balls, sago pearls, and jelly have long been staples in desserts and drinks. The cranberry drink with nata de coco fits perfectly into this cultural continuum.
Nata de coco, a chewy coconut gel produced through bacterial fermentation of coconut water, originated in the Philippines and quickly spread across Southeast Asia. Its neutral taste makes it an ideal accompaniment to tangy fruit flavors like cranberry. The texture contrasts with the liquid base, creating a multi-sensory experience that consumers find addictive.
Why Nata De Coco Became a Global Favorite
Beyond its texture, nata de coco is valued for its versatility. It can be incorporated into juices, teas, yogurts, and even cocktails. Global brands are increasingly experimenting with nata de coco as a differentiator in new product launches. According to market analysts, the niche for "chewable drinks" has grown steadily in Southeast Asia and is poised to expand in China, where consumers are ever curious about novel food formats.
Wide Opening Cans: A Packaging Answer to Chunky Drinks
One of the biggest hurdles for chunky beverages was packaging. Traditional narrow-can openings made it awkward to scoop out the bits. RITA solved this with a revolutionary wide opening can. The lid is completely removable, converting the can into a cup. This small but significant design change enhances the consumer's ability to enjoy every cube of nata de coco without resorting to a spoon. This product innovation points to a larger industry trend: packaging that aligns with functional eating and drinking.
Inside RITA's Brand Spotlight: Bici Bici Cranberry Drink
The Bici Bici product line, which initially launched in PET bottles, now arrives in aluminum cans for a more durable and portable packaging option. The 325ml wide opening can features a vibrant design with cartoon cranberries and a playful "We are BIG" speech bubble, targeting younger consumers who prioritize fun alongside function.
At its core, this is a straightforward yet well-executed beverage. The cranberry flavor provides a tart, refreshing base, while generously sized nata de coco pieces deliver a satisfying chew. The ingredients list is transparent: water, cranberry juice, nata de coco, sugar, citric acid, sodium citrate, cranberry flavor, gellan gum (E418), sucralose, and colors (E150d, E102, E133). This product is designed to float between juice and dessert, appealing to those who want a snack-like drink.
Product Profile: What's in the Can?
- Volume: 325ml ready-to-drink format
- Packaging: Wide opening aluminum can with fully removable lid
- Flavor: Cranberry with nata de coco accents
- Shelf Life: 24 months
- Certifications: BRC, FSSC 22000, Halal, ISO, HACCP
RITA originally launched the Bici Bici cranberry drink in PET bottles, targeting convenience stores. However, customer feedback indicated that PET bottles made it hard to consume the nata de coco pieces at the end. The wide opening can answers that pain point directly. This shift reflects how manufacturers must adapt packaging to the product's physical properties, rather than treating packaging as an afterthought.
From Vietnamese Farms to Global Markets: Raw Material Sourcing
Behind every sip of Bici Bici is a supply chain that starts with Vietnamese farms. The nata de coco used in this product is derived from coconut water sourced primarily in the Mekong Delta. The region's abundant rainfall and fertile soil support high-quality coconut palms, which RITA collaborates with local farmers to harvest.
One strategic partnership is with the Ben Tre coconut farm in the Mekong Delta, where RITA inspects raw material areas to maintain consistent quality. By working directly with farmers, the company ensures traceability and freshness in its coconut-based ingredients, including nata de coco.

Certifications and Quality Assurance
RITA's production facilities are certified under BRC, FSSC 22000, Halal (including GCC), Kosher, ISO, GMP, HACCP, and SMETA. These credentials enable the company to supply private-label beverages to even the most stringent international markets. With a dedicated R&D team, RITA can adjust sweetness, acidity, color, and packaging to match a buyer's brand positioning.
Flexible MOQ and Global Export Network
One of the biggest barriers for emerging brands is minimum order quantity. RITA addresses this with a flexible MOQ, allowing startups to test their formulas without massive upfront costs. Combined with a 20–25 day delivery window from Ho Chi Minh Port, this makes RITA an agile partner for brands in China and around the world. The company's ability to customize both the beverage and its packaging is a significant advantage in today's hyper-competitive market.
How Bici Bici Fits into China's Beverage Market
China's ready-to-drink beverage market continues to grow, with consumers increasingly open to fruit-based drinks that have unique textures. The Bici Bici 325ml cranberry drink with nata de coco is slated for distribution across all Chinese provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macau. Its compact can size makes it successful for gifting, retail, and e-commerce channels.
The Indonesian and Vietnamese markets have proven that wide opening cans can generate a viral following on social media, thanks to the satisfying visual of removing the lid and seeing jelly cubes in the juice. Chinese consumers who enjoy fruit jellies and bubble teas are likely to respond well to this format. For importers, RITA offers private labeling through its OEM service and ODM service, which can be tailored to local tastes.
Additionally, the product's versatility allows it to be served chilled as a summer refreshment or poured over ice with fresh herbs. It also aligns with the growing preference for beverages made with recognizable fruit ingredients. As Chinese consumers become more label-conscious, simple ingredient statements like those in the cranberry drink with nata de coco will play a vital role in purchase decisions.
RITA's global reach includes fruit juice products and coconut products that already perform well in export markets. The Bici Bici line adds a fun, contemporary touch to this portfolio, useful for retailers aiming to differentiate their beverage shelves from standard juices.
